The MAT program was originally founded on Jay Chiat’s belief in the power of diversity, and his vision for an advertising community as diverse as its audience. What Jay realized at the time, and what has become common place today, is that a diverse talent pool is a strategic imperative, a competitive advantage – one of, if not ‘the’ most valuable business assets there is.
When the MAT Program was founded in 1992, diversity in the workplace was heavily focused on race and ethnicity. While MAT was originally conceived to foster multicultural diversity within the advertising industry, diversity in the workplace has since taken on many dimensions and MAT has evolved to embrace diversity in the truest sense of the word. At MAT it’s not simply about your multicultural background, it’s about who you are, the variety of experiences you bring and the range of thinking and perspectives you can offer regardless of your ethnicity.
